ParticipantHi there,
New to the site and found it after googling the model of my washer/dryer….great site!My problem is that the spin dryer cycle automatically starts after the machine finishes the wash cycle and and dries for the maximum time. Very annyoying when you put a cycle on and go out and terrible for the environment.
Any tips or am I going to need an engineer on this one?
Cheers 🙂

I assume you mean the TUMBLE dryer starts without being selected.
The controls on this Indesit machine are not very robust to say the least.
This fault can be caused by the connector plug coming off the dryer control, usually it just needs pushing back on.
Be sure to remove the mains plug before you take the lid off. :zap:

Hello again,
The above advice was taken and when I removed the top of the machine, sure enough the connector plug on that particular dial had come off. Fairly relieved, thinking problem solved, I reconnected and put a wash on. Unfortunately the same problem reared it’s ugly head again. I took the hood off and took meticulous care in making sure the connector was on properly but unfortunately the problem persisted.
Does Jim or anyone else have any idea what the problem may be? Will I be shelling out for a new timer and if so, how much would I expect this to cost?
Many thanks again,
Rob

I take it that you have actually tested the switch?
It could be that the innards are permanently “switched on”,even though the original cause of your problem was a disconnected harness.
(sounds like the switch should be closed,to hold the power “off”the dryer-cycle)
you need a multimeter or continuity tester to check the switch changes states (open/closed) when you change position on/off.
UNPLUG FIRST! some appliances are LIVE even when switched off 😯 -
