Participantwe have a hotpoint bwd12 and it has got gradually very noisey and now the drum seems loose and moves a lot more when touched with hand and is very very noisey when on. can someone diagnose this problem as i think the bearing has collasped due to water getting thru seal, if this is correct i presume i will need a bearing kit for this model. please help.

Sadly, what you have is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit, very, very poor quality Italian machine. If it is under five years old then take advantage of your five year parts warranty and phone the Indesit Company. If it is over five years old then send it to join many thousands of it siblings on the scrap heap.
It is just possible to change the bearings on these machines but it depends just how soon you get it seen to. The fact that the drum is already loose suggests that the drum shaft is badly worn, this would need a complete inner/outer drum assembly to repair. 😥

Its easy to purchase them, the bearings are not that expensive but the drum assembly will cost you over £100 and is a major task, take my advice, the machine is just not worth it, it really is a pile of Do Do.
The best course of action if you still intend to go ahead is to strip the machine down first to check on the condition of the drum shaft. Plug out then if and when you finally remove the nut holding the drum pulley on, remove the drum bearing spider. Be very careful, the inner edges of these machines are like razors. 😥
If the drum shaft shows any signs of damage then you will be wasting your time fitting bearings.
How old is the machine? If it is under five years old the the Indesit Company will do the whole repair for a fraction under £100, or far less than you can buy the parts for.

Participantbe very careful for starters, wear gloves, good ones
remove plug
take off condenser and heater box
remove pulley nut, and 8 bolts on each corner of the spider
if your lucky (and if they do you will be), the spider should come off the shaft of the drum.. avoid using a lump hammer on the shaft, u dont want to damage the threads
not difficult, just tricky, hazardous and time consuming
pleas pleas watch out for the razor sharp edges
