Sad fact is that this machine is virtually 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit, thats means it has very ticklish, over complicated electronics that can be a real pain to fault find and cure.
The NTC is the water temp controller, the component may be faulty but that is not common, poor connections, damage to the PCB etc can also give rise to this error and are far more common.
You could easily find a loose or broken connection, you may not find anything obvious though. The Indesit engineers have software that is unavailable to the trade allowing them to do much more in depth diagnostics.
Your call really, if it is just a loose connection, a local engineer would certainly be much cheaper, if it turns out to be the PCB then the manufacturers g/tee is the way to go.
Please be sure to remove the mains plug before you open it up.
