ParticipantHi,
I have a hotpoint BWM129 washing machine. That does not complete the programs
(1)Washed a fluffy pink rug – ok
(2)Tried to wash a quilt cover and 2 towels on a 80/90 degree wash…. this appeared to keep washing for over 3 hours…. so we cleaned out the filter/pump area (access bottom right front).(4)
Set a fast rinse going – this completed. Emptied washing.(5)
Set a quick “J” program (30 mins) – after 30 minutes I see flashing lights
👿The “door locked” was flashing rapidly
Then reading down
0 – prewash – not on
* – Wash – flashing
* – Rinse – flashing
* – Spin – flashingTurning off at the wall for 40 seconds and back on, then I’m able to to a ‘fast spin’ to empty and get the washing out.
(6)
Starting a “D” wash (mean’t to last 70 mins) still going 3 hours later. Drum spins, water appears to go in the drum via the soap dispenser tray, water appears to go out of the drum.(7)
Started a “B” was at 80 degrees C – after 50 minutes the water was stone cold, as was the glass fish bowl. I aborted this was after 50 minutes.( 8 )
Started a “J” wash with the DIAL at “COLD” – this finished and completed correctly.(9)
Started a “J” wash with dial at the correct “30 degrees” – THIS 30 minute program IS STILL RUNNING AFTER 1 hour!!!!The program dial is designed not to spin – and it does not.
It’s got the free 5 years parts thing – but from reading on this forum it sounds like it’s at least £100 to get the hotpoint people to call.
Times are tough….
Any suggestions 🙂

I’ve ordered a heater element whatsit from uk white goods.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
I’m struggling to find out how to fit one by searching google. I’m hoping it’s not a ‘take the drum apart’ jobby.
I hate plumbing type stuff 🙁

For anyone else who finds this post/thread in the future
Heating Element arrived today (Thursday).
“ElectruePart” – Heater CW Sensor Hole
Order Code
ELE9114To fit Hotpoint BWM 129.
Started fitting it at 11am ish.
Finished it at 2pm is – now it’s doing it’s first wash.
From feeling the glass door I can tell it’s heating the water – Hurrah!!! 🙂 🙂If I can work out how to post a picture I will.
Tips:
Before you start:
– POWER OFF And UNPLUGGED.
If you put a multimeter over the 2 prongs of the element
and get a zero Ohms reading – “it’s probably a duff element”
Make a note of what wire goes where.
Loosen the Centre nut in the heating element –
The nut when tightened compressed the rubber seal (I found this info on this board somewhere).
Using a screwdriver help the rubber seal out a bit at a time.
Once it’s removed, shine a light, to look for debris, bra wires, nails etc
Spin the drum very slowly to see if anything is protruding out of the drum.
Insert new element – making sure it meets the plastic guide inside the drum.
Wire up – double/triple checking wiring.
Close all covers.
Connect any hoses removed for access (curse the fitted kitchen people while you are at it!).Turn on and pray.
Thanks to UK White Goods (and google) I haven’t been fleeced by the £100 (5 year parts guarantee) call out thingy.

Participantspot on
no different to a wm12x
but hey, its all rubbish, youve just paid more money for the tosh
and yes, thats based on experience.. faulty heaters rarely cause fault codes on indesit machines
its nearly always the heater relay
it WILL falter

Hi folks, i have just had my washing machine fixed, i was having the same problems as you all are havingmachine starts, then stop after about 5 min lights start flashing. the problem you have is a faulty heater element part number ELE9114, THE ELEMENT IS MADE BY ARISTON.
easy way to find out is take your machine out, remove the power cable from the wall, socket. At the back of your machine there is a panel about 12″ x 16″ held on with 6 screws, once removed you will see the element use a multi meter and check the 2 terminal to see what you get out voltage wise. i have just replaced my element tonight tested my machine now working fine.
the part should cost you no more that £26
hope this help you all it did for me -
