As the Hotpoint BWM129 in one of the flats I let flooded into the shop below I thought I’d search on here before investigating, but found no reference to this cause.
I found that the soap compartment to tub hose had become completely detached from the tub. I was able to re-attach it (seems to be just a push-fit with a formed rubber flange each side of the tub wall) but wonder if anyone else has come across this and if a likely cause is known? Machine has been in regular use for 5 years or so with no previous problems.
Its a cheap Indesit with Hotpoint’s name on it, to have lasted five years in rented accommodation is very good going TBH.
There could be an item of clothing stuck inside the drum that has forced the hose out, sadly as it is sealed drum then extracting anything like this is not easy. Has the machine become noisy recently?
No not noisy, but now tenant reports that although pump can be heard running it doesn’t always remove the water. Maybe there is something in there – but could the be another reason for this?
Filter had been checked many times. You were spot on – there was a sock between the inner and outer drums that had lodged in the outlet and may well have caused the soap hatch-to-tub hose to come away. Absolute swine to extract, but yet another reason to be glad I keep an old wire coat-hanger in my toolbox.
