Hi
I have a Hotpoint C367EKH, double oven cooker which hasn’t cooked properly since new. (It was delivered end of Nov 08 ). I have called out the engineer who has replaced both oven thermostats, but who told me that the top oven is rubbish & no-one uses it for serious cooking anyway and the bottom fan oven can have up to 15 degrees leeway either way !
I still don’t think the bottom oven is right. It seems to take an awfully long time. I did a test to see what it was really doing and set it to 200, I didn’t open the door until the temperature stabilised, which was about half an hour after being turned on, when it settled at 190 degrees. Once I put food in the oven the temperature dropped (obviously) & then it fluctuated around 170 – 180 all the time it was cooking.
I have had fan ovens in the past & they have never needed preheating, and normally you can run them around 10 degrees less than a non-fan oven. On small items the extra cooking time needed is only about 10 mins, but on large joints of meat is seems to be anything up to an hour extra, which makes planning meals very difficult.
I have spoken to Hotpoint Customer Service who are unable to answer my questions, but before the engineer comes again tomorrow please is anyone able to tell me:
How the average fan oven works?
Am I wrong to expect the oven to reach the temperature the knob is set to?, and
On average how long should it take to do so?
Thank you[/list]
