hotpoint CDT00 Tumble Drier

This drier is not rotating, I have checkedmost things but unsure what todo next. When you close the door and press start everything works heater comes on ,condensate pump running, but drum not turning belt is in place.Drier out of warranty could this be an expensive repair all help gratefully recieved. 🙁

Can you hear a low humming noise when the motor is trying to turn ?

It may be the capacitor.

Power off when checking anything internally :zap:

Cheers Dave,
I take it the capacitor is the cylindrical object near to the motor there is a lot of noise from the machine when switched on namely the condensate pump running. Is there anyway of checking the capacitor with a test meter to see if it is not working as there are no visible signs that it has developed a fault namely discolouring.Any help will be appreciated as the machine in question is only 13 months old. ❓

That’s the one, you can only check them accurately with a proper capicitance meter but they are pretty cheap, check the rating on it in UF value, a universal type should do the trick.
