One of the rings on my ceramic hob just stopped working halfway through cooking dinner. Is this likely to be repairable, and, if so, is it a DIY job?

Of course it is repairable. Most likely the element has failed and needs replacing. It’s a tricky DIY job but if you’ve got the tools and a test meter, power disconnected and in you go!

You’ll need to look up the model number as there’s dozens of variants but spare parts readily available all over the inter web.

If it’s a challenge too far for you then I suggest you contact a local repair firm. Far cheaper than calling out Hotpoint.
