ParticipantHi all, I have just been to a Hotpoint condenser dryer mod ctd00p, original fault was no heat, (as usual) checked stats and heater all ok, ran machine and noticed that the empty tank light was on (this one has water collector on the top) no water in it, checked pump and float all ok, what else should i look for on this one ❓
ThanksJanuary 19, 2007 at 10:20 pm #201444iadom

Microswitch above float chamber often sticks.

No, bog standard machine. There is another stat in the door surround. Have you actually changed the float microswitch. I had one that appeared to be operating correctly but it had shorted across inside.

no have not changed switch, and it is a 2 stat machine

Two stats over the heater, cycling & one shot, plus another stat in the door surround. A stat fault would not normally switch the ‘Empty Water’ neon on, a float micro switch fault would.

I had one the other week and the return pipe from the water tank was split, cuasing water to leak onto pump terminals blowing the pump windings and the timer also, same fault red neon on but no pump to pump water.

Thanks for that info johhnyj, these machines just get better & better. 😥
Went to a CTD00 today, approx 2 years old. They said it had been a bit noisy but carried on using it :rolls: .
The motor would run but it was very noisy, the black plastic fan at the back had melted in one spot, the one shot had failed and the heating element was shot.
I’m guessing that the motor siezed temporarily, it would had to have stopped to melt the fan in one place, can’t understand why the one shot didn’t cut off before this damage was done though?

the cooling fan on those machines are so bad, merloni have introduced a kit to cure it
You’ll probably find the fan had warped, and the capacitor did its usual trick of not starting the motor, and of course the heater tripped out
All supplied in the kit ( motor, cooling fan, cap)
In fact, to be honest the new fans arent a great deal better, other than being keyed on the shaft, yet they’re still breaking)
The best place for any merloni drier is the tip, but , remember, they’re helping us to keep our jobs!
