ParticipantHi all,
I’ve searched around and not found a similar problem. Others have problems where dryers wont heat up, ours wont stop heating. It’s a Hotpoint Condenser Dryer, model TDC62P, about 2 years old.
With the door closed, as soon as a program is selected the Drying light comes on and the drum heats up, but the ‘Push to Start’ button hasn’t yet been selected. When start is pushed, the dryer appears to work fine, although there is an odd burning-like smell, and clothes come out rather hot.
Taking the back off (unplugged), the elements and the thermostats look fine. The left (green spot) thermostat has a resistance of 3 ohm or less and the right one about 0.2 ohm.
Anyone know what’s failed?
Thanks

Almost certainly the dryness module is at fault. The heater relay on the module will have failed. The module is around £71.00 plus vat. If your machine is under 5 years old the Indesit Company will fit this part free but charge you almost £90.00 for the labour. 😥
Surprising that the one shot, green stat hasn’t failed. If the heater light stays on when the machine does the short reverse tumble then your module is faulty.

Thanks Jim,
The Drying light is on all the time any program other than ‘O’ is selected, so I think its safe to assume it’s the dryness module that’s gone. 😥
If it’s just the heater relay, can’t I just repalce this like for like?
Thanks again,
Phil

Yep, in theory. you just need to find a relay of the same type & value. Worth a shot compared to the price of the module, only one relay on the board so you don’t have much to lose really, go for it and let us know how you get on.
Plug out and watch the sharp edges, 😉

Hi, I have a condensor dryer, the same model as you have been talking about the TDC62 Hotpoint Ultima, and I have had nothing but problems with it, it will be 2 years old in May, I have had countless engineers out to it, they keep replacing the thermostat, two pieces, and on Wednesday just gone, they came out and replaced the heater, which looked burnt, and on Saturday guess what, it starts going cold again, thats the main problem, it doesn’t heat up, so tomorrow I will have to phone them again, and get the engineer back out, I extend the warrenty each year, have you any idea why this keeps on happening? it just stops heating up, drying light is on, and off, filters are all cleaned after each use, had about 5 dries out of it since it was fixed on wednesday. Great! had to dry my uniform in front of the fire lol……
