ParticipantJust don’t have the model number right here now, but in the last 2 weeks i have put 2 sets of stats in it. They keep blowing. The drum is ok and rotating and capacitor is ok. Any idea what’s going on?, anything i missed?
The dryer is 18 months old and is the model that has a pump at the back and water goes into a tray up top. Condensor etc is clean . Also customer warned about not openeing during the cycle.

Have the model number CTD 00. The drum though seems to have lots of power as i tried force on it to stop it.

Does the capacitor have a white cap on it, if so replace it they fail for fun.

Timer may have an intermitent fault causing the drum to rotate one way only. If it sticks clockwise or anti clockwise ( not sure ) the fan will not blow enough air over the heater.
Had one a few months back that was getting through a set of stats every time she used it so I sat there watching it for 20min and sure enough the drum got stuck one way, changed the timer and all ok now.

Well i spent an hour at it this morning. The dam thing went in both directions everytime. One thing i noticed with the timer is that sometimes when it clicks to go back into the normal direction it clicks louder than other times with a visible flash inside the timer.
Capacitor ok, i put force on the drum until the belt started making a noise so lots of power..
Also when the dryer was heating before clicking out the stat it dryed the clothes well and lots of water in the tank so no blockage.
Wonder is it worth the chance of getting a timer?

The timer does not sound great with a flash coming out of it but I cant see that it is the cause of your problem unless you are not getting the 10min cool down period at the end.

Have you changed the front cycling stat above the door?

No, Can’t see that being the problem because the cycling stat at the heater should keep that area at the right temps even if the one on top was stuck.

Just to help keep costs down on a job like this. You can reset the one shots on these by carefully drilling a 1mm hole in the back of the stat (you can even do it with your fingers through the plastic) and gently pushing a pin in. You should feel a click as the stat resets.

It can make them a little sensitive afterwards though. I tried to reset one to see and it clicked back out nearly straight away.

If it’s a new stat kit you fitted a week ago then you know the cycling stat’s OK. One other way to reset is to apply a bit of double sided foam tape on the disc then give it a sharp but gentle pull in the centre with a pair of tweezers. If the tape remains stuck to the disc just peel it away by pulling on the edge.
No way would anyone do this if there was any doubt about the cycling stat though!
