ParticipantHi Looking for next step to repair a Hotpoint Aquarius TDC32P condenser tumble dryer
Dryer runs for few minutes then just stops. In that time heater is working, clothes fell warm, drum changes direction, heater goes on and off as expected, drum moves freely,,, door latch working well… water collection tank is empty but was half full… so I think that it is condensing ok…
to date…
I have removed the heater cover and tested the heater with a meter reading around 45 ohms. I have tested 2 thermostats both read around 1 ohm. I have thoroughly cleaned the machine as far as I can vacuuming dust and fibres built up inside removing the side panels…
I am really stumped… when the machine runs it operate normally for around 90 seconds… then the heater goes off and shortly after this the drum stops turning… them machine then will not restart for a few minutes…
I have been on some sites that suggest the relay has gone but it seem to click on, on start and stop… on closer insepction there seems nothing obviously burnt out…
I couldn’t obviously see a thermal cut out and the machine is not tripping anything in the house…
please advise…

the relays do go and the way it happens is this
you start the dryer and the relay pulls in ok. as the relay coil gets warm a small break in the coil opens and the dryer stops
while the relay is still warm the dryer wont start but after a while it cools down enough to work again. till it gets hot and stops

Machine is subject to a fire safety recall, has yours been done?
If it is the relay then the machine will usually keep running if you hold the start button in, but stop as soon as you release it.
