Hotpoint/Creda TD bearing pads

A punter on the public forums reckons his CTD00 had five plastic front bearing pads. Now I have never seen any of these with five pads, have some of these ever had five pads fitted. ❓

theres 5 holes, only 4 pads fitted jim

They used to 5 on the very 1st machines, but we were advised to remove or leave out the top right hand pad, as the drums were getting jammed on some of them, JJ

I went to replace a shaft on one, an early CTD 00. It definately had 5 pads but the kit only had 4 so i left the top one as it was. Also the early CTD 00’s had the square back bronze bearing rather than the teardrop shape one.
