ParticipantHotpoint & Creda Washing Machine Drum Paddle V2 – some advice please
I am trying to fit a replacement drum paddle to an Hotpoint BWM129 – I have got the right part it is same as the one broken – I can see the 6 lugs which I assume you alight and slide up – not sure the purpose of the metal lug on the drum which is upright – does this need to be pushed down ..or is it a case of just align the lugs and push home – any advice please

Sadly this machine is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit, just do your best, there is apparently a special tool with a hooked end to lift the tab into place after refitting.
I’m intrigued by your reference to V2 lifters. The original Hotpoint machines have V1,V2 & V3 lifters but there is only one type of lifter for this Indesit machine and it is totally different to any V2 lifter.
The correct part number is C00064789

Thanks Iadom for you help much appreciated – like I say the part supplied is identical to the orginal (yes part supplied in an Indesit wrapper)
So would I push down the metal plate first and when fitted the new part into the 6 slots try and pull it back up right with something..

Thats the best thing to do, what was the part number on the wrapper?

I have the same problem – tab needs to be pushed down to slide lifter into place, then needs pushing up to hold lifter. Can’t see any way to get to outside of inner drum to do this, and near impossible to do it through one of the holes in the lifter. Any help appreciated.

Nonesense, you slide the drum lifter over the raised tab which then locks it in position!May 24, 2014 at 12:38 pm #330017PFM

Maybe on some, but not on mine. Lifter will not slide into place with tab raised.

Then you’ve got the tab raised too high. Although I sometimes put a small screwdriver though the hole to raise the tab a little

If you are careful you can twist the tab at a slight angle and raise it very slightly, you may then just get it to lock. The official ‘special tool’ that is supposed to be used to lift the tab is impossible to use as it will not fit through the holes in the lifter when it is fitted to the drum.
I use an old, broken Hotpoint WM 1601660 rear spring with a small hook formed at the end.
If the tabs break off then the official fix is to drill a tiny hole at the front edge of the lifter and insert a small, stainless steel screw.May 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm #330020PFM

Thanks, iadom – that is the machine I have. So, how does one perform this particular magic trick?

If you read THIS thread you will see just how useless the official special tool is. :rolls:

Don’t you just love indesit / hotpoint these days 🙁

Many thanks. Think I’ll make my own ‘special tool’ from a wire coathanger, failing that will get out the drill.

If you do use the drill method then take great care not to drill through the outer drum and make sure any screws are stainless steel and short. 😉
TBH I think that it would have to be a very thin wire hanger, most of them would be too thick to fit under the tab when it is flat to the drum.
