    the machine runs for a while then stops rotating but pump still runs could this be a timmer fault?

    Reverse Timer, motor capacitor either and or both can cause this.

    ive put a new cap on and it still does it

    Check the wiring continuity to the timer and obviously the timer connections throughput.. one wire forward .. one wire reverse.. one wire common.
