ParticipantHi all looking abit of advise on my Hotpoint CTD00
Last few times I have used the Tumble Dryer noticed that the clothes have not been completely dry so cleaned the condenser, behind the condenser and where the water drains to at the Pump as over time can collect fluff and sludge up.
When I start the machine it starts but stops when i release the start button, when I press and hold the start button it keeps going.
Checked the resistance on the Capacitor I get OL when its disconnected and 48 ohms when connected.
Did a quick check on the internet and is it possible that it is the Starter Capacitor that might be the issue?
Thanks In advance Deet

its not the capacitor otherwise the motor wont start
there is a system within the unit to keep the machine going after the button is pressed. the idea is to fail safe if there is a mains failure so the machine wont restart
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/1703616 … -relay-pcb
its possible this board may be your fault if fitted some earlier dryers used a relay which when faulty used to run for 10 mins or so but then would not restart till it cooled down but would go if you held the button
this comes up for you model and may be the correct part but you would have to check to see if you have it installed

Relay pcb fitted before serial number 603270000, after that Bitron door interlock fitted instead.

Cheers for the response.
S/N 5******** so is early type. Is there anyway to test relay before I replace as it switches off immediately after release and does not run for 10 mins.
Many thanks Deet

I would say it is almost certainly faulty. Nothing else can cause those symptoms.

Replaced the relay and has not fixed the problem. another thig i have noticed is that when I press release the On/Off button it lights up (from the rear of the switch, like its shorting out)
Is there anything else I can check, Regards DeetMarch 24, 2018 at 11:31 pm #454628electrofix

forget about the sparks from the switch. it will be switching about 10 amp so small flashes are normal
are you sure you got the wires in the right place on the new part as that is the only thing I can think off
post a pic of the new part and its wiring
