Hotpoint CTD00 blown stat

    Just for info probably been discusssed already been to this tonite. Humming motor, drum takes couple of secs to start rotating. Cap on motor no visible damage cust complained didnt start rotating when start button pressed, then when did was cold air.. Heater over temp Stat gone O/C. 12 months old. Beware.

    I’ve come across a similar problem several times with these machines, mostly caused by excess build up of fluff on front felt bearing. Drum can hardly turn.
    I do believe that the filters don’t really do a great job & a lot of stuff gets past & into machine.

    After Cap replaced was quicker to start. Luckily just over 12 mths so no lint.

    Capacitor failures are very common on these machines.

    I always replace the 8 micro farad capacitor if it has a white top as these were the the ones that were failing mostly, the ones with the black top usualy were okay.

    This was metal can with black top.
