My CTD00 condenser tumble dryer was working fine. Today after running for about 10 mins suddenly the power to all the sockets in my house disappeared. After a bit of investigation I find that it’s the tumble dryer thats causing it. As soon as i switch it on the power breaker trips in the consumer unit.

Does anyone know if this is something I can fix myself, is it a known fault ?

    Any advice appreciated.

It will remain off for the time being.

    TIA

The only way to find the cause is to check with the correct electrical test equipment.

I have seen one or two with the elements down to earth. One cause of this is failing to keep the condensor clean, this leads to moisture build up on the elements. If your condensor is badly blocked the best way to clean it is with a hose pipe or pressure washer, after you have removed it from the machine of course.

Please remove the plug if you intend to investigate or, click the link in my sig to see if we have someone in your area who can help.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll have a look at the elements and see what they are like.

If you have a blocked condensor causing this fault then after you have cleared it, it is sometimes possible to dry the elements with a hairdryer without needing to replace them. If you do attempt this take care because the elements are quite delicate. Plug out as always please. 😉
