Hotpoint CTD00 only works on high heat

Hi all,

As above, I have a Hotpoint CTD00 which only heats up on the high setting.

I’ve checked the thermostats and elements for continuity: all good.

The heat switch on the front appears to be operating properly, as in it has continuity on the “high” setting and is broken on the “low” setting.

I’m at a bit of a loss really as to why it won’t heat up. Condenser is clear, fluff removed etc.

Any ideas? Happy to provide more information if it helps.

there will be 2 elements in one casing. you have to be sure you are checking both of them

take the side off and unplug the element and test from the plug with a multimeter. you should get readings between all pins if elements are ok

Thanks Dave. Had a look there and looks like one of the elements is gone, which makes sense given its heating up on one setting.

I’ve ordered a replacement and will update when I have it fitted.

New element/thermostat assembly arrived and fitted. Back to drying clothes on both settings. Thanks for the help!
