1. Very awkward, no special tool AFAIK you need some large mole grips or pump pliers to twist the motor back to refit the mounting screws. You have to release the motor mounting screws to allow the belt to fit round the jockey pulley. Partfinder is available, its just a ridiculous price, currently running Version 2 issue 7. No doubt it will be ‘updated’ again shortly. :rolls:

I use the pulley to tension the belt, remove retaining screw nearest you on pulley bracket slacken the back one then tension by pulling towards you clipping the pulley bracket lug into motor refit and tighten screws, i usualy do them in about 15 to 20 minsif it is just a belt change.

the way i usually fit belt is….
remove lid,and both side panels,2 screws that hold water bottle holder ,split pin @ shaft,
take heater out of way by removing plug situated next to capacitor, remove rear fan..
take out 2 screws next to mains terminal..this will now allow you to pull back panel back enough to slip belt over drum..
now refit rear panel ,split pin, and right side panel…
@ left side remove inner fan housing (just pops of) remove inner fan.
loosen pulley assy..take nearest bolt right off , slip belt over motor shaft and align… adjust pulley as req..
refit inner fan etc, job done…
tried a few other ways, but this is the fastest…about 30 mins 1st one…
cheers ally…January 14, 2007 at 1:21 pm #200640ChrisR

The really annoying part is that belts used to last 8 or 10 years before failing, not 8 or 10 months. 👿

I find the tool for this is my junior hacksaw. Take the blade off and use the handle of the tool as a hook to pull the belt over the jockey pulley. It works … honest!
