    Hotpoint CTD40 condenser drier.

    Fault reported – no heat.
Firstly, found the twin stats over the heater had failed: replaced them but still no heat. Heater OK. Tried linking stat wires (filter check stat above door) but still no heat. 👿
The drier is switched on, the timer set to say, 60 mins, press start. A few seconds pause then the drier starts up, drum turns, all seems normal. Then after about 10 seconds, PCB ‘beeps’; the ‘High Heat’ and ‘Alarm’ LED’s flash continuously and the on/off LED flashes rapidly. Drum turns clockwise only and all buttons have no function. The only way to stop the machine is to unplug it!! 😈
I think the PCB is causing the problem – but when you add the cost to the thermostats and the fact it rumbles like a bl**dy steamroller it doesn’t look good. This machine is not even 2 years old; serves a family of four and is cleaned out regularly – it’s really is quite pathetic.
Does anyone know if Merloni stopped Hotpoint’s free 5 year parts warranty? There is no mention of it in the drier’s user instruction book. 😕 It may be the only economical way to save this machine.

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve.

The 5yr parts applies to all Hotpoint stuff, there’s never a mention in the manual, but, a sticker, usually on the front or top of the machine.

noise is that it needs conversion from wheels to bearing pads on front ducting, heat problem is prob module and eeprom, if stats have been fitted, i fit complete heater kit as it comes with stats. the early ones of these are poor, slightly better now though. :rolls:
