ParticipantHi,
Can anyone tell me the location of the thermostat reset button on this condensor drier – Hotpoint ctd40?
I am hoping it’s not computer linked, requiring a Hotpoint engineer!
Many thanks,

Participantahem, if its cut out, theres another problem, usually
however, with the plug out, remove rear fan cover, then on the back panel, youll see the heater , and the cut out is over there?
personally, id change the stat kit,and that depends on whether theres 2 or 3 stats
but i must insist the plug has to be out, cos most components are live!

Thank you for that speedy reply.
Yes the problem is me forgetting to rinse the condenser resulting in an overheat. Won’t be doing that again 😳 .
I’ll definitely unplug!
Thanks again heloNic

Well, I looked under the fan housing and located what I assume are two thermostats but no button. Although one of the stats did have a depressable middle which I duly pressed. Still no luck however.
Other than the wiring and heating elements there was nothing under that cover. Did I look in the wrong place?
Thanks again
Nic

No. There is a control thermostat and a safety thermostat. If one of the thermostats is dished inwards, it’s the safety and it has tripped.
You’ll this:

hi there, this looks like the right place…. I’ve had same problem here with a ctd40 – no heat and just ordered the replacement thermostat kit although had to purchase the older kit as my serial number is before 511300001 – good point to watch out for this one.I’m waiting for my kit to come and have already removed the old two thermostats which were easy to find about the heater mounted inside the back panel.
But….. the kit mentions two thermostats AND a thermistor!!! where does the thermistor go? didnt see this anywhere inside the back panel and also mentions that all three should be replaced at the same time!
any ideas??

Keymasterlong-orchard,
Please keep it to one thread only and do not paste the same problem all over the place.
Thanks

long-orchard.
After serial number 50712.0001 ( July 05) the cycling thermostat was removed altogether from above the heating element. It was reintroduced in Jan 06.
Confusing or what, and you only have one machine to contend with. :rolls: Just imagine the problems we are faced with. 😥
One of the two ‘stats’ you have removed from the back is actually a thermistor, the other will be the failed TOC or safety stat.
You will only need to refit the new thermistor and TOC. The TOC should have a white spot on it and possibly 143°. do not press on the base of this or it will be damaged. The cycling stat which you do not need may have 106° on it. This one will click in and out if you press the base.
The thermistor will have a solid base that cannot be depressed. I hope you made a note of which wires went to the TOC and the thermistor before you removed them as they must be refitted in the correct place.
If one of the original ‘stats’ you removed was white then that is in fact the thermistor.
Jim.
