It’s only blowing cold air through the drier and there’s a flashing power and time delay light. Have cleaned the condenser unit which was clogged with wet fluff but still only getting cold air. I suspect that the heating element has burnt out and needs replacing although I would have thought that there must be a thermal cut out which should have prevented this?

Before I nip off to Ebay to buy the spares I’d appreciate any advice as to whether I’m barking up the wrong tree (knackered thermostat?) and am wondering if a DIY job is possible as Hotpoint want £100 to repair it!!!!!

Of course if I’d done a ‘search’ first I’d have been able to answer most of my questions!! It would appear that I need to try a thermostat kit rather than a new element, any DIY tips on disassembly and re assembly of the machine will be much appreciated!

Plug out first, the heater and stats are behind the small back panel. Handle with care, the elements are very delicate.

Well it’s fixed, a very simple job (except for the kitten playing with the screws while it was dismantled!) so thanks for the advice.
