Just had this customer on the phone, machine only 13 months old, he is in the middle of a ‘fit for purpose’ argument with the Indesit Company ATM.
He says he can switch on, set programme, display lights up but when he presses start it beeps four times but does nothing else.

Is this likely to be a faulty door switch or is it a PCB problem?

“Four beeps or not four beeps, that is the question?” (Bring back The Return to the Forbidden Hotpoint) :snigger:

I just downloaded the manual and it says that the alarm will sound 4 times if you try and select an option that isn’t allowed for that programme.

I know thats not the fault you described but the customer could be explaining it wrong to you?

Not a lot TBH Jim 😉

But from the User Instruction Booklet for this beast: –

“The Start/Cancel button starts the selected programme. When you press this button there will be one short beep and the progress icons will flash on/off to confirm the action. If you have not set a programme, the buzzer will beep four times”

On the subject of Option Button selection: –

“If an option is not available and you press the button, the buzzer will beep four times. If the option is available there will be one beep and the option icon lights to confirm the selection.”

The conclusion I take from this is either they are not carrying out the start procedure (above) correctly or the programme microprocessor is having a fit for some reason maybe? 😉

    HTH? 😀

Hi Tim, great minds eh? :waving:

(P.S Will we have to change Jim’s unofficial nickname from ‘two beeps’ to ‘four beeps’ now I wonder?) :innocent: 😉 🙂

I do have the manual on this machine and another punter in the public forums has already posted about his CTD85 giving the same ‘four beeps’, he did actually cure it be doing something with the door switch.

As I mentioned I have not been out to this machine yet as the customer is intent on trying to get Indesit to do it under g/tee. I justed wanted to be prepared. 8)

Twas a faulty door micro switch. When I removed the switch assy it worked in my hand but failed when back in the machine. One of the terminals was loose.

Not a bog standard micro switch unfortunately, due to the way it fits into the mounting bracket one of the terminals is flat to the body of the switch.
