Got a bit of a prob with my hotpoint DC28P dishwasher.
I went to use it this morning and found that it wouldnt start the wash cycle. Light comes up on the prewash, then beeps, then flashes.
Its making all the usual noises as normal (pump?) I have had a look to see why the light would be flashing and according to the book the dishwasher is equipped with a safety system, and is reported with the phase indicator light flashing.
    Can anyone help?

Hi libbie, which indicator light is flashing, is it the prewash neon?
If so that indicates a flooded base. Your machine may have an internal leak or may have overflowed due to using 3 in 1 or 4 in 1 tablets plus additional rinse aid.

If you pull the machine forward, UNPLUG, then place a few towels on the floor and tilt the machine, either backwards or to one side, you will almost certainly get water running out from underneath. If the dishwasher then works you will need to keep a close eye on it. You should try to use separate detergent and rinse aid, also add salt if your mains water is anything other than very soft. If the fault re occurs then you could have a leak and the dishwasher will require remedial attention.

Please remove the plug if you intend to open up, or click on the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help you.

    Hi Jim,
Thanks alot for that, I have just pulled it out and tipped it backwards and water did indeed come out.
Just turned it on and the prewash light isnt flashing now and just goes straight into wash cycle so I will, as you say, keep a close eye on it.
    Regards
    Jo
