Our trusty old DF23a Hotpoint has developed what seems a random failure.

It seems that occasionally the dishwasher fails to fill-up with water and circulate, so therefore gets stuck during the ‘rinsing’ cycle. When you open the door it is dry as a bone.

I pulled out the dishwasher to check it, and tried the ‘normal’ program again, but this time is worked fine. This has happened once before, e.g. it failed to fill and circulate, but then magically started working again when I tried it a few days later.

Is this a common fault? I am happy to tackle the old girl as she has provided many years of loyal service 🙂

The hose running across the bottom of the machine from the fill matrix to the sump moulding is probably choked. A good clean out of it and the mounting spigits will probably clear it.

Power off before removing any panel.

you could also check for a broken wire at the bottom of the door where the wires go into the bottom of the cabinet sometimes opening and closing the door will make or break a broken wire.

but also ensure plug is out befor removing door panel
