Hotpoint DF22 leaking

Hi All,

I’ve got a vintage Hotpoint DF22 dishwasher in my kitchen which is leaking water. Obviously, given the corrosion, it’s been leaking for a while, but only recently been leaking out onto the floor where we could see it. Anyway, in the linked pictures, I’ve highlighted the corroded bit. Water doesn’t gush out, but drips whether or not the machine is running.

Can anybody tell me what the leaking part is called. My initial Googling led me to believe that it might be the float switch, but given my limited knowledge of dishwasher workings, could very well be wrong. It seems that some dishwashers have a visible float, but the DF22 doesn’t, just a float to indicate salt reserves.

Any help on naming the part and more importantly, fixing the issue would be greatly appreciated.

think it the solenoid on the softener unit

Agree with Dave, looking at the parts diagram the regeneration valve is listed as still available but at a hefty price, you would also need the sealing O ring kit.

These machines are actually a rebadged Bosch machine so I did some google digging on C00247586 and came up with bosch part number 051835

cant be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} its the same

What do you think Iadom

if it will fit its only £27 from Bosch

Whilst I agree with my colleagues that that valve needs changing the actual leak you will find is coming from the matrix chamber directly above that valve. What occurs is that the float unit slightly overfills that chamber and drips water out of the vent hole and down onto the floor via that valve.

The cure is to remove and clear the float unit. Remove the long black rubber hose and clean that out. Reassemble both, replace the valve and Voila! ….sorted 😀

Thanks everyone for your replies. Even with a 1-week-old in the house (on top of the other two kids and my mother), I managed to get some time this evening to bang about a bit. I haven’t replaced anything, but I did clear the black hose. That didn’t seem too gunky, but there was some build up. I also managed to figure out how to remove the side panel and then the float unit and cleaned that up a bit as well. Although again, not too much build up from my perspective, but what do I know?

Anyway, now running a cycle and so far so good. No dripping yet. DAve said this dishwasher is just a Bosch rebadge, is there a Bosh model number that correlates directly to this Hotpoint model? I ask as I think we might need to replace the racks sooner rather than later.

Don’t know the direct correlation. In fact I don’t believe there was one. But both Bosch and Hotpoint replacement baskets (if still available?) would be prohibitively costly. 🙁

Both baskets listed as available for the DF22, both over £100 each. 🙁 I suspect the Bosch ones won’t be much less even if you could identify the correct model.

Even if you have stopped the leak that regeneration valve is a potential hazard and should be changed.
