My Hotpoint df42 dishwasher keeps stopping and showing the error 20. Can I fix this or do I have to call an engineer?

Its a problem to do with the heater, could be a number of things from the heater itself, the temperature sensing device or the control panel. Complex machine to diagnose. Would recommend expert help unless the heater is obviously blown. Unplug before undoing any screws!
