    hotpoint df61 (Bosch) water not getting hot
    element ok, is this likely to be stat problem or timer probem.
    not familiar with this appliance are there any other stats other than one situated on top of heater box,which is a bugger to get your hands onto,

    The water metering system behind the left side panel will probably be blocked with food sludge. The pipe that goes from this routes to the sump and this is usually bunged up with sludge as well. Strip out and clean the parts, refit and it should heat perfectly.
    Why it won’t heat:- There is a pressure switch on the end of the heater box (microswitch between the heater terminals) that is activated once the pressure of water in the heater box is enough to push back the plunger and switch the heater in. If the water metering system is blocked, it doesn’t fill the machine with enough water for the motor to pressurize, so the plunger isn’t pushed back, etc..etc….. 😉
