ParticipantI had a new sink fitted today & when we pulled out our dishwasher we discovered a large square rusty patch below on the floor, approximately 250 mm square. Also I had noticed recently water in the bottom of the inside of the dishwasher that failed to drain away.
I am going to call out an engineer, but would like to know what might be wrong as it washes well and has done for five years used twice a week.
Anybody any ideas?
Thanks, Rob (Gsheppey)

Impossible to say without us removing the base plate and looking at it. Besides which the machine should have stopped working, switched the drain pump on and flashed an error message if it was leaking internally. ❓

Thanks iadom. Is there any way of testing it without pulling it out & up ending it, like running a diagnostic programme (using button combinations for example) that isn’t detailed in the users manual that only service engineers would know about, or is our dishwasher not advanced enough (microprocessor wise) to be manipulated this way?
Failing that I could pull it out at the weekend, take a picture then upload it here for you to comment on.
Any help you can offer greatly appreciated, thanks, RobJanuary 13, 2015 at 8:40 pm #423541iadom

No such luck, it’s a bog standard cheapo Indesit machine. The only way is to unplug, drag it out and tip it onto either it’s back or left hand side looking from front then remove the base. Any rust on the underside may be due to water from somewhere else.

Hi Iadom, I had the dishwasher up ended last weekend & worked out the leak came most likely from a crushed waste water flexi pipe. It had become crashed behind the dishwasher up against the wall & the back of the base unit. The water ran back down the outside of the pipe, leaving crusty white deposits all the way down to the back of the dishwasher & under the washer, gathering in a puddle where the casing touched the floor.
I have done a quick fix with duct tape, which could become the permanent fix, like it often does on my Landrover!
I will post more in the future if it gets worse. Thanks for your help.

As I suspected, the leak was outside the dishwasher . 8)
