Just discovered your site – great!
My Hotpoint dishwasher FDD912 blows the fuses in the main circuit board when the door is closed. Had an engineer out who thinks it needs a new motor but it’s very expensive and doesn’t seem logical. I would just like a second opinion if anyone can help please?

Whilst you do have a rather poor quality Indesit made machine which does have several known faults including the main motor, heater, electronics etc it also suffers from very thin, flimsy wiring in the door harness.
I would suspect a wiring or heater problem before the motor. Did the engineer actually test the motor?

That sounds more logical and no I don’t think he did test it.

The physical pump side of the motor has failed a lot but I’ve not had a single one shorting out (yet).

If he did not put his meggar or multimeter near the machine then you most certainly do need a second opinion.

If you don’t have the means to test it electrically yourself then try ‘Find an Engineer’ from the SEARCH link at the top of the forums.
