Ive got a hotpoint DWT10 dishwasher and it isnt draining. Theres about 2 inches of water in the machine and will not start working unless i completely drain it all out, even then it stops after about 5 mins (i assume as it fills up again).

I have taken the waste hose off and checked it is free of obstruction, I have also taken the pump apart and checked the impeller is free of debris. I tested the pump with a multimeter (which i am quite unfamiliar with) and it has a resistance of 200 ohms.

Could someone tell me if its likely the pump need replacing? or what else I should investigate?

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: hotpoint draining problem

In most cases it is just a blocked pump, failing that then the wiring circuits from the pump to the control PCB may be faulty.

Also could be the main circulation pump, on some models the drain pump is routed electrically through the main motor, if that goes O/C then it will not drain.

If the main circulation pump is failing it can run for a short time before the motor TOC cuts out, this will then not drain.

Thanks. Could you give me some info on how i can check these things out and figure out what’s wrong? I have ruled out a blockage and I guess the pump still works, what’s next and how?

    Thanks

If this statement is true then there is not much I can help you with TBH.

As I have already said, the main circulation pump can work to start with but if it is siezing or failing when it gets hot then it will cut out and thus prevent the drain pump from running.
