KeymasterHi,
I have a Hotpoint Aquarius Condenser dryer (TDC30) and it will not heat up.
I spun the timer dial and the ‘drying’ indicator came on, and that load was dryed. But when I put the next load in the ‘drying’ indicator will not come on, and the cycle is cold.
Dose anyone have any ideas what could be wrong, or have had the same trouble?
Any help or anvuce would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

This is the usual reason for not heating:-

Thanks for such a prompt reply Martin!
Are these easy to fit or should I get someone out to do it?May 12, 2005 at 12:27 pm #134503Dave_Conway

Pretty straightforward sev, search for other Creda and Hotpoint dryer posts with not heating problems, there’s loads 😉

Here is a UK white goods success story.
I had a problem with my condenser dryer hotpoint CTD40. The problem was that it was no longer heating, and after a while a couple of lights would start flashing. the instruction manual refered me to hotpoint.
i picked up from this forum that it was likely to be the thermostats. I decided to take the risk, so i ordered the thermostats here (£22 plus £3 postage). I also got myself a multimeter from ebay.
On these dryers there is a panel at the back which is very easy to take apart, inside the thermostat are neatly aligned. the heating elements can be inspected and looked ok – i.e. not burned or fried…
i removed the existing thermostats, tested them with the multimeter – clearly one of them had a problem. i installed the new ones and put the casing back on. And the dryer is working again, if anything better than it was before.problem solved in 4 days for £25, which is much less than the call out rate of hotpoint!

I have this same problem with no heat on the cycle of a Hotpoint CTD40.
I am going to solve this problem myself rather than paying Hotpoint, where do I locate the thermostats and can someone confirm the correct replacements to purchase?
Hope someone can help.

As per post above……….
Remove rear cover. Split thermostats from circuit. Check continuity with test meter.
The various thermostat kits can be found here:

Have been looking at a Hotpoint CTD40 condensor dryer for my sister inlaw.
Original fault was lack of heat during drying and quickly traced to failed thermostat (whitespot 1 of 2) beside heating elements.
Dryer filter checked – ok
Condensor fairly well blocked and cleaned.
New thermostats fitted (x2) as well as moisture sensor all as 3 part kit.
Dryer worked fine on low heat, but as soon as high heat selected all heating failed.
The on/off light flashes slowly and the time delay light flashes fast (or it may be vice versa).
Testing again the thermostat(white spot) has failed again despite only a few minutes high heat operation !!
Help !!
Full thermostat kits are £34.98 !!!!

Failure after such a short period of time has got to be due to airflow restriction somewhere.

Will check airflow again , but seems good !
What temp do these one-off thermostats fail at? could it not be replaced by a resettable one?
Bought kit of 3 (2 thermostats and 1 sensor) from ———http://www.espares.co.uk/for £34.98 delivered. –slow supply took over 1 wk.
Could not find any spares listed on web to fit model CTD40, do any other model thermostats fit?
Only need the fail safe one -white spot.
Any help / advice / part nos. greatly appreciated.

I did try to point you in the right direction. http://tinyurl.com/39olyr
It only shows the NTC or thermistor, (the thing you call a sensor) but it includes all stats.
A self reset stat would not be safe, it would cover up for faults elsewhere in the machine.
Stats not available separately. It is possible with a bit of force to get the front off the condensor to allow you to clean it properly, a blast with a hose pipe or power washer is the best way.
