ParticipantI have been asked to look at a dishwasher for a lady who lives down the road from me.
The dishwasher is a Hotpoint DWF 30 and it appears the the control module has failed as there is carbon and smells as you would expect with a PCB / component short circuit.
I can get a new controller, but I need to configure it and this is where the problem starts I can’t find anywhere where this information might be be, could anybody help?

To configure a lot of the newer boards you need to have the equipment to do it.
For Hotpoint that involves a smart card and reader/programmer of an Indesit Company laptop.
In other words, you can’t really do it. 🙁

I think the dwf30 was part of a recall a while back

There is a set up procedure which on this Bosch based machine is done via the control buttons.
You say you can get the module but several of these are obsolete and the ones that are available are listed as well over £100, a bit steep on a machine that ceased production in 2002?

Spot on, they added a large resistor of some kind to the pcb wiring, even had a picture of it somewhere on the forums.

Your right it is a lot to pay but she has a suite of three machines washer, dishwasher and freezer all in a light brownish colour. She would rather pay the cost to repair than stick a white one in the middle is the two other beige appliances.
