Hi all,need help with my dwf 30 (hotpoint).Recently noticed everything was coming out pretty grubby after a 50 degree wash,did the usual cleaning of spray arms to no avail so though I’d find help elsewhere and here I am.Upon reading some posts in this forum I have tried to find the problem but I am now confused by it all!!! When I turn the m/c on water does come out of the spray arms very slowly but then drains straight out of the bottom(i presume it should be filling up?) Anti flood trip I thought,but if i poor a jugfull of water into the m/c it seems to work fine(water stays in the bottom) until the point of the cycle where it needs to pump dirty water out,then I’m back to square one.Any suggestions would be welcomed.

This is the last Bosch based machine made by Hotpoint. Your machine is underfilling. The hose in the left hand front corner of the machine under the tub is choked and needs cleaning out.

Power off, if you intend to investigate this problem.

thanks penguin,when you say “under the tub”do i have to tilt the m/c back and look underneath? sorry to be a pain

You can lean it back if you like, but you won’t see anything 😀 . Closed tray construct.

All you’ve got to do is remove the door panel, kick panel and inner lower front panel and all will be revealed.

Good news 😀 unblocked water inlet hose and now were back in business,instead of taking the machine apart i found a hole in the sump which seemed to be leading to the front left corner so i got a bit of wire and had a poke about,lots of murky water with gunge came out and blockage appears to have gone.Might even get the wife to invest in some cleaning stuff!!! Anyway,what i wanted to say was “top marks” to penguin 45 for helping me find and rectify the problem

Err, remove the mains plug then take out the screws.

Down each side for the door, leave the top console in place, one either side for the kick panel then give it a good hard yank to pull it off.
Two in the inner lower front panel.

Ok cleaned the pipe in the bottom left hand corner although it was only slightly dirty. Put dishwasher back together and set it to run economy wash and after 2 hours plus it finally ended.

There had obviously been no heat during the programme as the contents were still wet along with the inside, there was also suds left in the bottom but no water.

Any suggestions on how I can cure this problem would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Chris

It gets more difficult now. 😉

You could check out the pressure chamber shown in THIS thread.

No heat can also be caused by low internal water flow due to the previously mentioned gunge. Also look at the top left hand corner of the large plastic fill chamber that covers most of the left hand (from front) side of the machine.
If there are signs of dark gunge blocking the tubes at this point then this can also cause this problem, this is almost impossible to clean out correctly.

If that is clear then its a matter of testing the heater with a suitable megger or multimeter. If the element is OK then it could be a PCB or wiring fault. Access to the heater etc is not very easy to say the least.

Thanks for that, there was just one other thing I would like to ask and that is how do the sides come off.

I have taken the two screws out from the front and taken the top off but they dont seem to want to come off easily. They pull out from the bottom but the top edge doesn’t seem to want to move.

I didn’t want to be to heavy handed in case i bent them.

Pull out from the bottom……………………only if forced. 😕

They pull over the small plastic lugs at the back, then lift out from the bottom.

Fill Chamber completely clean. Could you tell me where I pick up the connections to the heater so I can put a meter across it.

Incidentally I tried pressing buttons 1 & 3 and switching on to run test routine however instead of light 2 & 4 flashing to indicate the test is active all I get is light 1 & 3 flashing. Does this indicate anything ?

Only three error codes for this machine, all shown by just one light, 2,3 or 4 staying on permanently, not flashing after or during a test routine.

You have to be careful when pushing and holding certain buttons, its is possible to alter the model/feature setup if you mess around with them.

If you hold buttons 1 & 3 in then switch on but keep them held in you should see light 2 on steady. If it isn’t then you have altered the programming. It will need to be reset before you can run the test programme.

The heater can be accessed with some difficulty by removing the right hand ( from front ) side panel.

Poor water flow due to a failing circulation pump will also stop the heater from working.
