ParticipantCouple of weeks back my DWF31 flooded itself, following advice here I tipped it back and a load of water came out. Reset it, turned it on, and for a good few weeks now its worked fine.
I thought the same thing had happened on Wednesday as turned machine on and it just kept in pre-drain mode, not progressing to cycle. Tilted machine back, no water came out, so poured some water inside the machine, switched on, and watched the clean water pump out normally, and then the machine ended its drain cycle.
Tried then to run a cycle – machine fills with water and then stops. Pump/motor doesnt kick in, timer doesnt go down. If I press the reset button, the water drains out nicely and machine stops as normal.
Does this sound like the motor/pump has failed due to the machine flooding initially? It doesnt seem like a flooded issue now as the drain mechanism stops normally after 40 seconds or so. It just seems to forget what to do once its filled with water. Same on all programs.
Is it time to buy a new one (is 10 years old).
thanks

Normally if the main circulation pump fails you can hear a faint humming noise when it should be washing. This is a Bosch produced machine, well made and possibly worth investigating further. It could just be a capacitor failure. Motor however is listed at nearly £150 ex vat. 😯
The pump and impellor assembly are also available as a separate part, around £60 ex vat. Access and repair of these parts is not easy requiring complete removal of inner tub etc although capcitor can be checked without to much difficulty.

Thanks. There is no humming. Its odd. At one point it did seem as though it was going to try a full cycle, but then nothing.
So you think its worth the £90 call out from Hotpoint? Trying to find a local specialist, but not having much luck (am near Heathrow).
