ParticipantHi I went to this machine yesterday customer reported hearing a thud then smell of burning and machine went dead I checked module and it is burnt out did a quick megger check at plug and it mearsured fine could not see a problem elsewhere this is a Bosch machine does anyone know if this is just a PCB fault or should I be looking elsewhere for a fault.
I also checked for a price of a new PCB on Connections but they list it as obsolete can anyone confirm this as they do not list an alternative.
Thanks BassmanFebruary 18, 2007 at 3:55 pm #204699iadom

It has been obsolete for a while now, one or two people have asked if there is a Bosch alternative but I don’t think anyone has come up with one yet. 😥

Thanks for the info Iadom where does my customer stand with this machine it is only 4 years old and now unrepairable will hotpoint be responsible for replacing it? I thought there was a law that appliances should be fit for purpose which surely means lasting longer than this.
I have told them to get advice from trading standards and then contact Hotpoint, Does anyone now what the situation is regarding these problemsFebruary 19, 2007 at 8:54 am #204701Martin

Has she actually got a receipt to prove that, these machines are all well over that age, unless it was old stock?
Even if it is around five or six years old I am sure that she should be able to get some concession from Hotpoint.
I seem to remember Hotpoint along with most major manufacturers signing up to the AMDEA code of practise many years ago. If my memory is correct, it stated that the manufacturer would guarantee to supply parts for ten years after a model ceased production or supply a suitable alternative at a reduced price. As engineers we even had a concessional price list for such circumstances. Sadly all that seems to have been allowed to slide.

I am almost certain that QER & EMW will not repair these modules, and if it is as badly damaged as it sounds I would think that would be out of the question anyway. 😥
Jim.
On second thoughts. Searching for DWF31 does bring up some info.
They may even have stock of these if yours is beyond repair, or just repair them, although their stated success rate of 44{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} would be a bit of a concern.
