    Hi All

Having a problem with my dishwasher, it’s an elderly Hotpoint DWF33/41. It seems to get to mid cycle and stop pumping water in. You can hear the main motor running trying to pump the water around but theres nothing there to pump.

So far I have removed the matrix and cleaned out the years of congealed muck, cleaned out the red float and the pipe below it, removed and cleaned the plunger/stop where the water in is controlled, removed the main pipe to sump hose which was perfectly clean.

It all works fine from initial switch on, the waste is expelled, the fresh water goes in and fills everything up as it should and for 20 minutes alls fine, but then it goes through a waste cycle and you would think it then has to refill the sump with clean water. It doesn’t but it thinks it has hence the main pump running thinking its pumping water!

I know its an old dishwasher but its been such a good one that I’d love to fix it. I had Hotpoint out a few months back to do a recall and they replaced the main pcb free of charge so if this isn’t an expensive fix then id love to do it.

    Thanks for any help

Pressure bellows microswitch sticking or faulty contacts inside switch?

Thanks for your reply, is it this bellow/microswitch that sends the signal for that electromagnetic plunger to pull back and allow the water to then rush past it from the mains?

It’s started not allowing water to fill the chamber most of the time now from start up but occasionally it will fill without a problem but then not refill the chamber half way through the cycle as before.

I did remove that bellow the other day and clean it then blew into it. The diaphragm isn’t split as it was holding pressure against my blow.

I’ll get a meter across that switch in the morning just to see that it’s actually functioning as intended or ifs got a hiccup.

That’s what I’m looking for really, the trigger to tell the chamber to fill, I just can’t seem to work it out?

    Cheers

    Wayne Healey
