ParticipantHi,
As the topic suggests my hotpoint aquarius dishwasher dwf34 has stopped working.
A cycle got stuck on 1 min remaining:
The dishes are dirty, the soap has only partially been washed from the panel. If I try to drain the water I just get a humming noise, no pump action…
Does this suggest a pump has gone?
Thanks,

The good news is that what you have is actually a Bosch produced appliance, not the appalling Indesit rubbish now masquerading as Hotpoint.
You can access the pump impellor from inside the tub.
Remove all the filters, then get rid of as much water as you can by any means, (cups, towels etc)
At about 8, o’clock in the bottom of the sump you will find a single torx screw which secures an ‘L’ shaped cover. Remove this and you then have access to the pump impellor. Take care at this point and look out for pieces of glass or any other foreign body that may be stuck in the pump.Jim.

Brilliant – Thank you very much!
I couldn’t find anything of note in there, but after a good clean it all seems to work again,
Thanks again – This forum has now stopped me from having to buy a new dishwasher and washing machine 🙂

Excellent news, you possibly dislodged whatever was jamming the pump impellor, even very small particles can stop it.

Does this go for the micro filter set as well? I have a DWF34 which won’t clean properly and the micro mesh filter has become detached from the plastic frame.
The spares sites I’ve looked at have a range of prices from £40 to £65, but there’s a VERY similar-looking item from Bosch for £25. It all seems rather expensive for a piece of plastic but the manufacturers have got consumers over a barrel!

It should be the same part. 🙂
However, poor cleaning is usually due to clogged up internal pipework etc, this is caused by not rinsing the dishes properly before you load them into the machine.
This thread Bunged up Bosch of where to look for blockages.

I ordered the cheaper part and it was compatible though not fully identical in all respects. The dishwasher has been running for nearly 3 weeks now and is noticeably cleaner! The solution cost be less than £25 instead of potentially £60. Thanks Jim.
