Hi, the door on our Hotpoint Aquarius DWF40 dishwasher refuses to close.

The cycle finished normally this afternoon, but there was a loud ‘click’ sound when we opened the door. It now gets within approx 1cm of closing but the catch doesn’t engage.

Looking at the catch, it’s quite loose and can be flicked around a little with no resistance. It won’t stay in the position that would appear to match the metal bar on the inside of the dishwasher (I hope I’m making sense).

Q1. Could the catch have actually broken or there a spring that’s failed or moved out of position ?…

Q2. Do I need the part number of the catch to get a price from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk ?

Q3. Apart from the sharp edges, is there anything I should be aware of if I want to remove the inner door and investigate further myself ?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Sounds like that the latch has come apart – you’ll have to open it up to see. Door latch is C00094128 if required. Don’t try and remove the inner panel – the door outer and facia panel will unscrew.

    Power off, of course.
