Right on schedule (extended warranty ran out in April) our Hotpoint DWF40 has given up….

Initially it stopped mid-cycle, and now flashes the first two LEDs (Prewash and Wash) regardless of the cycle I select (it waits for 3-4 minutes before the error). I’ve checked the filter, supply hose & drain hose for kinks & blockages etc and all look ok.

Found a couple of old posts which mentioned the water level control, or base flooding. Pulled out the unit and tilted in all directions but no excess water came out.

    Any suggestions or information appreciated….

First two lights flashing suggests a drain problem, could be blocked or jammed drain pump. Power off if you intend to investigate further.

NB. Don’t attempt to unblock by forcing water back into the machine.

Thanks for your suggestion (you were right!)

Turns out a small fish/chickon bone had got through the filter and got stuck in the pump. A local engineer fixed it for a very reasonable £28. Lovely.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome, it is wise to rinse all dishes etc before putting them in the dishwasher.
