ParticipantHi,
seeing a lot of great info on this site and wondered if anyone can help? When I run a Normal or ECO cycle the machine gets as far as rinse then stops before draining. The Fast and ECO lights are flashing .
The water at the bottom is quite warm.
When it has cooled down , if I reset the cycle and set to Prewash to drain the water away it will pump it away.
If its tried before it has cooled – then there is a hum noise.I ran the fast wash cycle(lower temp) and it completes to end of cycle.
I think this is a temp problem – cutting out the pump at >45deg
– the pumps and heaters appear to work and circulate warm water except at a higher temp/long cycle.I see lots of comments on poor PCBs in these models
but is the temp sense at where the water is heated or the PCB
– anyone any other common sense ideas as to what elseFool confident to change the PCB – with all safety precautions to be taken
many thanks for the help already from previous postings

Best to give us the lights by number from the left. On some of these machines the drain pump circuit is routed through the main circulation pump. If it is lights 3 & 4 then that is a drain time out.
If the main pump is overheating and then seizing ( causing a humming noise) then the motor TOC will cut out and therefore prevent the drain pump from running until it has cooled down.

The lights flashing are 3 – ECO and 4 – Fast.
If its overheating then should the controller be replaced or the heater itself?
thanks again Dave

By overheating I mean the circulation pump motor overheating and seizing during the hotter, longer washes.
I have seen this on a number of occasions, get called out to a ‘no drain’ complaint, switch on and it drains perfectly. Of course by the time I get to it it has cooled down.
The humming noise is the clue, that would come from the main motor before the motor TOC ( safety cut out ) tripped, this would then stop the drain pump which is wired in series with the wash pump motor.
If that is the cause then a new circulation pump is required.
A couple of different motors, both around the £100+ mark, might be time to take advantage of the five year parts warranty if it is under five years old.

I have copied and pasted this from your other thread on this machine. Its best to keep it all in one place or you end up with total confusion.
Hi,
while running an ECO cycle has anyone experienced a loud buzzing from the top panel at the end of a rinse cycle. I then get lights 3 and 5 (eco and prewash) flashing?
Still some water at the bottom of the machine.thanks Dave
Lights three and five are supposed to indicate blocked filters but surprise, surprise, they can also indicate a circulation pump failure, something I have already suggested as a possible area of concern. 😉

Hi,
just thought i’d respond back with my ECO(light 3) and fast(light 4) fix – was dreading the circulation motor was damaged or blocked but check that the rotor could move OK.I replaced the timer PCB – C00143207 – and now its working fine !
Including the intense cycle. PCB is made by Flex and other than a few resistance differences on the connector could see no damage. The new part was 2008 vintage the old one was 2004. Might be a software issue !!! and yes on a dishwasher.
Part was delivered in a couple of days – excellent work UKWhitegoods.
Many thanks to the contributors on this forum for the diagnostic tips without which I’d have to be traipsing round Curry’s etc…Dave

The electronics across the whole of the Indesit range of appliances are about the most flaky of any manufacturer.
Glad you sorted it.

Who have thought it – after 3 months of solid running – inc Christmas – the fault has returned . Another case of the Hotpoint built in obsolescence strategy may’be !
The ECO and FAST lights return with no draining – sounds/feels like the heater is running but no water movement.
Typical useage method is place D/W on delay for 6 hrs then run ECO cycle(45deg ~ not the hottest) – could the delay make the electronics more vulnerable to wear or damage risk may’be.
Another PCB biting the dust by the looks of it

hi
tried running this one again
– put it on prewash cycle(so no heating) and started it off(lasts 12min) and it completed OK.
– Repeated the pre wash cycle again and was ok.Then ran a fast wash and it stopped at the wash stage
– some humming from the back , I think it was the circulation motor
– the heat was being applied, but was making gurgling noise like a kettle due to no circulation.
– then the error code went to 4- Fast and 6- DelicateSo circulation motor can run OK
Starting to to think this is temperature related or could it be cranky electronics – again
What did I do before this hobby :rolls:
thanks D.

I refer you back to posts 2,4 & 5 in this thread.
I shall say zis only once more, 😉
THE CIRCULATION MOTOR CAN CAUSE THIS EXACT FAULT.
It is a well documented but intermittant fault.January 30, 2010 at 12:34 am #296130Penguin45

So, that’s the circulation pump then, Jim?

Pedant. :rolls: 😆
I have seen this fault on more than one occasion, the water gets hot, the main circulation motor/pump overload cuts out due to partially siezing motor. The drain pump is wired in circuit with the main motor, ergo no drain.
Machine is left to go cold, overload resets, drain pump works fine.

hate to drone on but … if I had replaced the control PCB(C00143207) and it worked fine for 3 months(Oct 29 – last week) what changed in the circulation pump or degraded on the pcb.
many thanks for the constructive commentsD.
ps any recommendations for a more resilient dishwasher

It is an intermittant fault, often hard to pin down.
Bosch/Neff/Seimens is your best bet for a decent machine.
