ParticipantHi – the control panl on my DWF70 is behaving very erratically – switching itself on and off, the program button swicthing on and off the function buttons and vice versa, not switching on, and the indicators for what you select skipping about all over the shop. It has always been a bit flakey displaying AL99 which I understand it a control panel problem but slamming the door shut sorted this out (as gleaned from forum) but now it is just ridiculous. It took me ten minutes to get it going this morning and I was unable to select the program I wanted or put it on timer. It seems to be OK once it gets going though – once you manage to get it going that is! Is this a problem that can be fixed and is it expensive. I’ve had the diswasher from Jan 2004, so over five years. Would be grateful for any advice – thanks.

The control module is not that expensive, around £35 to £40. however the LCD display module is around £100 or more. 😯
It could be due to loose wiring connections between both boards or a failure of either.
Also earth faults, particularly on the heating element can cause problems.
A quick check of all of the connections, tightening where possible would be the first step.
Be sure to remove the mains plug first and watch the edges of the inner door, very sharp indeed.
It is actually an Indesit so you may not want to go overboard on cost. 😉

Hi – thanks for the advice. I wasn’t confident about removing the panel myself so called an engineer who has just been round. He says there is no sign of a loose connection and that I would need a new panel – I’m not sure if he meant just the panel or the lcd too though as he said it was wear on the buttons stopping them making a decent connection, I assume it’s just the panel. Anway, he’s going to let us know how much it will all cost and we can make a decision from there. If it is the more expensive thing, then I would be inclined to buy something new – and decent!
