ParticipantOh what joy to discover my customer has a Hotpoint DWF70S dishwasher that’s displaying “AL05”? 🙁
Thumbing through my UKW Known Error Codes booklet (like you do) and it tells me “Circulating Pump fault?” Delving into the gubbin’s and slapping a meter on the motor (and its attendant water point device) makes me think the motor is OK. It’s clean, unmarked and spins easily by hand, no problem. 😕
So, not sure what to recon? Buying a motor and sticking it in is one sure fire way of confirming whether or not the error code is correct? But I’m not wasting my time and money speculating on this heap in tin junk. :rolls:
Maybe its the module? Dunno?
All I know is that it fills OK then pumps straight out and flashes AL05 and as to what point the motor should kick in, I have no idea? Service manuals cost around £20 per model from Indesit these days and therefore never a viable option. I doubt a manual would give much clue on this anyway?
I expect the Hotpoint whiz kids amongst us can bail me out here, any clues guys??….PLEASE 🙂

AL05 Can also be Filters blocked.
Possible causes, Mesh plate, filter or microfilter, pressure sensor.
(Apparently) 😥

Check the pressure hose i’ve had a few with water trapped up it causing an airlock.

ALO5 filter/p/switch/spray arm blocked loss of pressure

I’ve removed the filters, blown through the pressure hose and manually operated the pressure switch. The machine fills just fine (to the expected level) then immediately drains away with AL05 showing. 😕
Then why does the ‘known error codes’ state it is a circulating pump fault I wonder? 😕 😕 😕

The manual lists AL05 twice, once for each fault. ❓
The ‘pressure sensor’ is that small doofer just above the circ pump, not the pressure switch.

Ah, gotcha, I can see that now, thanks Jim. Although, that looks like a flow sensing microswitch that comes into play once circulating pump fires up? In my case the motor don’t do ziltch, so maybe the doofer isn’t the culprit? 😕

hi, If fills and then aborts with drain pump worth checking its not siphoning.
Check heater insulation and high pressure sensor (the small one on circ pump, should be n/c.
If all is ok then module fault.

Thanks Gazza and Hotdog, so its either the Heater, the Module or the Motor? Brilliant…these error codes are priceless aren’t they? :rolls:
I’m afraid I cannot justify speculating on which part may be at fault, wasting my time and my customers money on a guessing game. And quoting to fit all 3 parts on an either/or basis is very unprofessional. 🙁
It’s yet another case of “It’s 3 years old lady, so chuck it in the bin!”
(And in case you were wondering, the lady just moved into the house and the dishwasher was part of the ‘fixture & fittings’ so that the 5 year parts warranty route is a no no!)

Martin,
as far as I’m aware the 5 year warranty should not be affected just because there is a change of customer. It is a 5 year warranty on the appliance.
