ParticipantI have a 3 year old Hotpoint washing machine which the other day started making loud banging noises as if spinning off balance. A few seconds after starting the banging the washing machine tripped out the power for the ring main. When I reset the circuit breaker and set the washing machine away again it ran ok for a little while but then stopped with an error (E15 check outlet pipes), tried a few more times but still the same. Is this error connected to the machine overloading the power and tripping the breaker, or should I be checking the outlet pipes for blockages??

Model number would make diagnosis rather easier….. There is a filter in the hose from the drum to the pump, which can be accessed from the rear. It may well be choked. Also, can you hear the drain pump running?
Power off if sticking fingers in…..

Error code E15 would suggest that your machine may be a little older than 3 years. Before you try removing the hoses, open the door and try to pull the inner stainless steel drum towards you. If it is obviously loose and appears to be moving away from the outer drum seal then it would suggest that your drum support has fractured due to excessive use of low temp washes and possibly liquid detergents. This would cause the noise and damage the heating element, this in turn would trip the electrics and also give rise to an E15 error message.

Model No. is WD72, did not have to hand when posting question. Washer is 3 years and 5 months old. Checked inner drum, but was all secure, so continued to check said filter. Found sock in there and the remains of a CD in smashed pieces. Put back together and washer worked fine. Thank you for your help, much appreciated.

A CD 😯
Thanks for letting us know the outcome. :tup:A pump blockage should not cause out of balance, loud banging or trip the electrics.
keep a close eye on the machine for next few washes. -
