I am not Gas safe. I know this has been discussed before and I know it’s a grey area but does anyone know this model well enough to advise? Has gas hob apparently. Haven’t been to look yet but customer is an old friend and want to give them best advice for their safety… and my a*se. (Also how much should they expect to pay a gas safe engineer to do it, excluding parts?)

Re: Hotpoint EG 21 dual fuel. OK to change the oven fan mtr?
I had a discusion with a rep from gas safe at the uk whitegoods meeting and his advice was the last person to work on a duel fuel appliance is responsible as a gas safety check should be carried out.
As you do not know if the appliance has a leak before you carry out any work the only way you can legaly repair it is if you get the customer to disconnect it from the gas mains and repair it then advise in writing on the receipt that the customer needs to arrange to have a gas safe engineer to carry out a safty check.
At the end of the day it is not worth taking a risk as if any problems arise the penalty is high.
