    Hi All

I have just had to replace a pair of hinges on the above cooker because one had broken its spring linkage and the other wasn’t far behind. However a question has now occurred that I need confirmation of the answer.

The customer is adamant that the door shouldn’t spring back to the almost closed position by itself but should stay in the fully open position.

I thought that as this is a range cooker and the door opens downwards to a low level that it should spring back to the almost closed position so that no one trips over it if they forget to close it.

Who would you say is right?

Secondly I see that Hotpoint list both C00083113 (which I fitted) and C00085563 as possible hinges for the appliance – what if any are the differences between them?

    Thank you

    Jem

Although I don’t know the specific model, I would say the customer is right. It would be difficult removing stuff from the oven if the door keeps springing up.

    hi
the customer is right ,did you fit the 2 hinges and 2 hinge recievers?, you need to check with hotpoint for the correct part number, you will need to quote the serial number,to see what hinges and recievers you will need

2 versions so I would take a guess one has a heavier door than the other. the other hinge number should cure it.
I have had this problem on a Smeg once when someone I later found out had removed a piece of glass from inside the door for whatever reason and had therefore lightened the door causing the door to spring up shut on its own.
