The other day I went to inspect a Hotpoint EW21P electric cooker with a non starting fan motor. Looked like a simple job, very easy access to the fan motor, quick removal of the inner back plate with a reverse thread nut holding the fan blade and a small back plate at the reer of the cooker leaving ample access to remove/re-fit the motor. Ordered the new motor, and what a supprise for hotpoint spares (NOT), it was different than the origonal one. The origonal one has the round plate which coveres the holes that remain when you fit the new fan motor, a little hard to explain, but the top 2 screws only need to be loose and it will hang in place and the bottom one will line up perfect. Cut a long story short, with the new three prong fan motor (that will NOT fit with the round plate) leaves two holes around the size of a 5 pence piece in the back of the oven wall behind the reer plate. Seems a bit of a concern in regards to heat loss and the motor terminals are right next to it….. Any feedback would be great.. Thanks.

    Re: Hotpoint EW21P

Part number supplied should have been 6221960 ?

The one with the round plate is 6102532 but according to Partfinder, it doesn’t fit the EW21 😕

    Dave.
