    Hi All

I have a Hotpoint EW73 double freestanding oven, The top oven is taking a really long time to heat up and it not getting upto full temp.

The bottom oven is working perfectly.

I believe that the top oven element needs replacing, however I cannot see where it is located and cannot find any top oven element removal guide.

Can anyone tell me where the top element is located and how to remove it for replacement?

Also, Does anyone know the part number for the top element?

    Thanks
    Steve

First Steve you will need a fair degree of electrical knowledge in order to check and locate the fault. Likely as not an element has failed, sure but you need to fully establish that first. The oven must be fully isolated first, switch off at the main switch AND isolate the supply at the fuse board/consumer unit to be sure the power is OFF!

Access to test all elements is from the back of the appliance. Suitable test meters are required to check each element in turn. All the best now!

    Hi Martin

    Thank you for your reply.
I have a good amount of electrical knowledge and circuitry.

I have taken the side and rear off the oven, I cannot see an element.

Inside the top oven is the two grill elements, these are working correctly and test postitive with a multi meter.

So my question now is, For this model of oven, how does the top oven get its heat?

    Thanks
    Steve

There is a base element under the top oven, accessed from the right hand side (from front )

    Hi iadom

    Perfect, thank you.

Took right panel off and could easily see where the element is, Disconnected the two wires and removed the two screws and out comes the element.

Tested with a multi meter and its dead on end to end conectivity..

Found part online, part number for everyone else is: C00233808 (About £40 as of Jan 2013).

This is a very easy DIY job, just make sure you isolate the power to the cooker, 8 screws in total.

    Thank you all..
    Steve
