We have a problem with one ring – the halogen (front right) It appears to stay on full heat whatever the setting on the dial.

From a quick browse of your forums it sounds like the regulator

How easy is this to replace? – Do I need to take off the ceramic hob to get access? (Sides come off to gain access to the top screws I think.)

Is there anything else it might be? Is it worth testing the regulator or just ordering a new one?

    Thanks

Re: Hotpoint EW85 – Halogen Ring Fault

It does sound like a faulty regulator and as the cost of one is roughly a tenth of the cost of the ring itself it would be the first thing to try.

Access is not easy, hob has to be released, all knobs pulled off etc.
Be sure to isolate from the mains if you are gonig to attempt this.

    Part number is a C00199654.

    Thanks

I think I can get this sort of job done – have seen this cooker taken apart before.

I will turn off the mains at the consumer unit – don’t want to take any chances with electricity.
